Khan seemed to be drunk and intoxicated in the Verzuz battle. She was performing with Stephanie Mills in the battle.

She was behaving awkwardly on stage and was slurring the words. Stephanie had to take care of Chaka on the stage despite the ongoing R&B battle. She had to remind Khan which song she was getting ready to sing. Several people on Twitter believe that she was under the influence and was not in the right state to perform.

Previously, Chaka struggled with alcoholism and drug abuse. She used heroin and cocaine for a long time before ending it in the early 1990s. Khan also had an on-and-off struggle with alcohol abuse till the early 2000s. She declared herself sober in 2005.

After the news of Prince’s death, she planned on changing something in her life. In July 2016, she went into the rehabilitation center to battle her addiction to prescription drugs.

Chaka has been married two times. She got married to her first husband, Hassan Khan, in 1970. Khan was just 17 years old when she got married, and the marriage ended in divorce after a while.

She married her second husband, Richard Holland, in 1976. Richard filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences in 1980. 

Khan has two kids, Damien Holland and Milini Khan. Her daughter, Milini, was a result of her relationship with Rahsaan Morris. Her son, Damien, was born in 1979 during her marriage to Richard Holland.

In 2011, Khan was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. She successfully battled against type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure by losing 27 kg or 60 pounds, reports Diabetes.co.uk.

She went on a vegan diet to fight against the illness. Chaka was sick for a while, but she cut down dairy and meat from her diet and started with a four-month juicing diet before she went back to solid food.
