Who is Caroline County Judge Jonathan Newell?
Judge Jonathan Newell was 50 years of age. He is a judge since 2016 and has also been a top prosecutor for more than a decade.
He began his law career in a career as a public defender in 1999. Eventually, served as the deputy state’s attorney for Kent County.
After serving for more than two years he was elected state’s attorney for Caroline County in 2003.
Furthermore, the Republican has been Caroline County’s only Circuit Court judge. He was earning $174,433 annually.
Very recently he was taken into custody on federal charges of sexual exploitation of a child.
Most of the victims said they knew Newell since they were in elementary school.
A boy had discovered a hidden camera in the bathroom and his parents reported it to the police.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that Newell is believed to have chewed up the camera memory card.
Authorities also located a hard drive in his house that showed numerous videos of young men showering.
Jonathan Newell Death By Suicide
Jonathan Newell took his own life on Friday 10, 2021.
He was discovered dead at his apartment as Federal Agents moved to arrest him.
Reports suggest that he was discovered with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
His neighbors described hearing two gunshots and then what they called flash-bang grenades was reported to the police.
Newell took leave following a police raid on his home on July 24, 2021. He had extended the leave this week to September 23.
The Maryland Judiciary also addressed the sudden death of Judge Jonathan Newell. The judiciary has no further details and is unable to provide further comments.
Maryland State Police are now leading the investigation into the apparent suicide.
