Broadway star James Delisco Beeks was arrested for his involvement in the riot at the U.S. Capitol on 6 January.

The Entertainer who most recently played Judas in the U.S. touring production of “Jesus Christ Superstar” was charged by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia.

He was charged with obstruction of Congress, a felony, as well as a misdemeanor charge of unlawfully entering a restricted building or grounds. 

After the arrest, he made his initial appearance in the Eastern District of Wisconsin and was released pending further court proceedings.

He joined the riots as an affiliate of the Oath Keepers, a militant extremist group whose members flooded the Capitol on 6 January. He had paid dues to the group two weeks before the riot.

He was part of a mob of people, including some who attacked law enforcement,” the Office said in a statement.
